Out of a desire to grow in our spiritual lives, to somehow find more time to read not just our Bibles but to read the guiding voices of people that encourage us to look deeper and to do this with those we worship with- this is why the reading group began. The All Hallows Women’s Reading Group meets twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings beginning at 7PM and ending promptly at 8:30PM. We gather in the Parish Hall and start our time together with the short version of evening prayer. This is a slightly different reading group, as we read the book aloud. The gift of hearing words aloud is as precious as when we were read to as children or hearing the Word of God spoken in worship. There are evenings where we read 40 pages together or times where a page leads us into a long discussion. We close with evening reading Compline; the last Order of Worship for the day. Women of the parish of all ages are welcome to join at any time. The format of the group requires only a willingness to participate – no other preparation or homework! The books we have read to date are: The Practice of Prayer by Margaret Guenther, Death Comes for the Archbishop by Willa Cather, Life Together by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Reflections on the Psalms by C.S. Lewis, The Illumined Heart by Frederica Mathews-Green and The Open Gate by David Adam. Thank you, Jo Ann West | ![]() | |||
