Director of Children’s Ministries, All Hallows Episcopal Church, Wyncote

Position: Regular, Part-time

All Hallows Church (with an average program year Sunday worship attendance of 100) seeks an energetic, enthusiastic, and flexible individual to oversee and implement religious education and activities for Parish children from birth through eighth grade. This individual is responsible for enhancing and adapting existing programs and for introducing new programs as needed to accommodate the changing demographics of a growing Parish.

The Director of Children’s Ministries’ primary areas of responsibility include overseeing the Sunday School program, organizing the Parish’s annual Vacation Bible School, coordinating necessary nursery care for infants and toddlers, determining and overseeing children’s roles in special parish events and services, identifying, recruiting and supporting lay volunteers for children’s ministry programs, and providing pastoral care for our children.

This position requires a deep personal faith in Jesus Christ exhibited in daily life, a love and understanding of children and their spiritual development, proven experience working with children in a church school setting, a familiarity with different children’s ministry resources and curricula (especially Episcopal), excellent organizational skills, and a spirit of collaboration and teamwork.

Position is part-time, 15-20 hours a week. Schedule is negotiable, although the Director of Children’s Ministries is expected to be present on Sunday morning, all other times that children’s programs are scheduled, and when relevant staff and committee meetings are held. Ideally, the candidate should be a committed member of an Episcopal Parish, although a non-Episcopalian who is familiar with churches with a liturgical tradition would be considered. The Director of Children’s Ministries will be supported by the Rector, the Vestry, and the Parish Christian Education Committee.
